Matthew Eisen
Co-Executive Producer & Producer
Two forces have motivated me throughout my life: to tell compelling stories that engage people; and to create projects that inspire positive social change. Upon graduating film school, I was extremely lucky to discover that I could combine the two as a documentary filmmaker.
Little did I know how difficult it would be to build a career as a documentarian. So while I developed my documentary projects, I also worked as staff producer and executive producer at San Diego’s PBS television station; spent five years as a Hollywood screenwriter; co-founded a video production company specializing in brand and marketing videos; and joined a startup on-line education firm. Since the early 2000s I’ve focused on three fields: healthcare, biosciences/genomics, and the environment. One of my most successful projects was the 4-part primetime PBS television series Remaking American Medicine, featuring efforts to fix America’s broken healthcare system. It was seen by more than 7 million viewers, and supported by an engagement campaign that partnered with 49 of the nation’s top healthcare organizations. Discovering the work of Wes Jackson, and joining the Prairie Prophecy team to create a feature-length documentary and supporting engagement campaign is a dream opportunity. I am thrilled to be telling a story that will change minds and ultimately change behaviors, at a moment when we find ourselves on the brink of environmental disaster. |
